Nightshift

A mixed media animation short about the young janitor of a museum. During his shift, he breaks the museum’s prized dinosaur skeleton…

In my senior year, I was part of a group of six people who made a mixed media animated short film, integrating cgi animation in a live-action miniature decor. This was part of our graduation project and was wrapped up in 14 weeks. We were mainly inspired by the clip ‘Share your gifts’ from Apple. Next to that, I’ve always been a huge fan of the work from Laika and Salon Alpin.

I was mainly responsible for the making of the scale model and supervising the needed changes on set. I also modeled, unwrapped and textured some of the 3D objects, as well as replicating some of the scale models in 3D. Later in the progress, I assisted with lighting, compositing, masking and made the end credits.
